PREPARE YOURSELF

It’s the weekend and Florida Beaches are OPEN! So with that in mind, Amelia and I invite you all to join in for a Water Walk!

Yep, grab an old pair of shoes, put on some sunscreen and your hat THEN head to the beach and WALK…IN THE WATER! Get waist deep and and keep moving for 1-2 miles:). It’s Fun! It’s Fitness. It’s totally Leapfrog!! ENJOY!!!

CHECK IN TIME!!

Daddy Daughter Monday: Legs & Glutes

Daddy Daughter

PREPARE YOURSELF

Amelia and I get through the Monday of week 5 quarantine with some new leg & glute exercises to keep us challenged and engaged!

THE WORKOUT:

  • BEGIN: with simple Calf Raises (5 each leg)
  • THEN: move to some straight leg leg lifts.
  • NEXT: get on all fours for another variation of straight leg lift.
  • FINALLY: we put it all together with a compound movement to really engage the leg muscles.

All exercises are 5 reps each leg and all should be completed slowly & smoothly with control. Enjoy!!

Although I know we practice running…in times of change I often find nothing soothes more than a nice quiet walk.  So this week…3 weeks into social distancing…I want to give a  Shout Out to just taking a quiet walk.  I hope you all are safe and sane and I hope you get the time to just take a simple walk this week…It’s worth it!!!

It’s all about perspective sometimes.  In these days of Social Distancing we are either finding some sort of success OR gaining a lot of valuable experience.  

CHOOSE YOUR FOCUS WISELY.

I know it can be hard…but as with running…even a bad run is still better than no run at all.  Focus on the things you can control, dare I say:  The Fundamentals?  Things like family, friends, faith…REACH OUT!  There can be Great Value in these times if we choose to Breathe Deep…Keep a Strong Posture…Keep our Eyes Up…Keep Moving!  The crest of the hill…The Summit of Your Mountain…It will arrive, and although I don’t know exactly what you’ll see from the top I know we will all be stronger on the other side!!!

Special Note to Mauricio Restrepo…Mauricio met me on Tuesday morning for my personal workout training for two big upcoming events…Mauricio met me at 4:50a.m. and pushed me through repeat stair loops in the parking garage complete with a 20 pound weight vest…288 Push Ups and 400 Air Squats!!!  He kicked my butt…and he earned this special note!  Many Thanks Mauricio!  That’s a tough workout and it’s nice to have an early morning partner!

That’s a mantra here at Leapfrog!  We often speak of it at practice…Prepare Yourself isn’t just about logging the miles and the workouts…  

Preparation is a full circle.  It’s everything going on in life and knowing that life is fluid.  It’s constantly in motion…day to day…workout to workout…night to night with sleep…meal to meal with nutrition…it’s your family…your job…your friends.

When it comes to training there are more than just workouts to consider.  At Leapfrog we believe in QUALITY over QUANTITY and we hammer out the Fundamentals.  We want to always make the most out of what we have.  We take our knowledge of Run Fundamentals and then apply them to each athlete within the parameters of that individual.  We want to know our athletes…We want to be able to see the signs beyond the miles run.  We look for energy levels…posture…enthusiasm…stress…fatigue.  

We plan our training with the availability to modify when needed to address each persons specific needs.  It’s more about CAPACITY than ABILITY.  I want to ensure you always have the CAPACITY to both Train & Compete!  That’s the physical ability, the mental confidence and the emotional energy to perform and achieve!!  It’s personal…it’s a relationship…it’s a commitment and a journey.  

I like to take this time to invite you start your journey with Leapfrog if you haven’t yet…and challenge you if you’ve been a part of Leapfrog!  I invite you to JOIN LEAPFROG 3 mornings a week for our local group practices!!  It’s here that we not only build strong fundamentals, master the basics but we also build strong friendships and supportive group dynamics. Live from The Track 2/10/2020

PREPARE YOURSELF

Learn…Practice…Workout

It’s our Monday Form & Fundamental Workout. Today we worked on the rest period BETWEEN INTERVALS. We focused on maintaining our Capacity to Perform as we worked on Breathing/Heart Rate & Posture.

Our next Track Practice is Wednesday 6-7a.m. Repeat 200’s.
