Friday brings us back in action!  The day will begin with our RUN WORKOUT 6a.m. at Venitian Village and end with our 6p.m. Swim/Social at Naples Beach Club.  It’ll be good to be back with everyone…with Social Distancing still in effect.  I look forward to getting back together and seeing you all THIS FRIDAY!!!

PREPARE YOURSELF.

Well, it’s been a long time.  Lot’s of changes and “new normals” but some things aren’t meant for change!  Leapfrog is all about the long game and keeping you moving forward!  With that in mind, it’s time to get back to our Running and The Fundamentals that come along with movement!  

We’ve got to get started again..and Friday is THAT TIME!  Regardless of how you handled the quarantine it’s time to come back and PREPARE YOURSELF w/Leapfrog.  Start where you are…there is no expectation!  Some have run more…some have run less…some not at all…You are All Welcome and Encouraged!!  

Friday we get back to some basics in Venitian Village with small run units focused on Breathing, Posture and Arms.  It’s great for everyone and I hope you can make it!  

Friday evening we make our official “Return to the Beach!” with the Friday Night Swim/Social.  A great sunset awaits as do smiles and stories!  I look forward to seeing you!!


I look forward to re-grouping face 2 face this FRIDAY!!

Daddy Daughter Up/Down Cardio Work

Daddy Daughter Cardio

PREPARE YOURSELF

Today’s workout is a creation of Amelia’s (really any toddlers!) idea of rest time and play time!

It’s an Up/Down Workout:)

  • START: by laying flat down on your back…try to fully relax (Inhale…Pause…Sigh.)
  • THEN: you just get up, take approx. 10 steps.
  • NEXT: You lay back down and fully relax. Inhale, Pause, Sigh.
  • THEN: You get back up and go quickly back to where you started.
  • REPEAT for a Minimum of 10 Loops (So you will have laid down and gotten up at least 20 times!)

It’s life with Amelia:) I know it seems super simple…but trust me…it can be exhausting! Be sure to fully relax each time you lay down. Get Up and Lay Down with control, no flopping down! ENJOY!!!

Daddy Daughter “Deck of Cards” Workout

PREPARE YOUSELF

DADDY DAUGHTER DECK OF CARDS WORKOUT

Today Amelia and I “get over hump” of Wednesday with a Fun Card Game! Today we practice with the “Deck of Cards” Workout.

You’ll need only a standard deck of playing cards to participate…that and some dedication:) The secret of today’s workout: “Units You Can Handle” just do each card as it comes…1 at a time.

The Workout: STEP 1: Choose how far into the deck you will go: Pick your commitment from 5 to 52 cards…JUST REMEMBER: You won’t know what each card will bring…so choose wisely and remember: Be Dedicated to Your Choice and take it 1 card at a time.

STEP 2: Shuffle the deck and plank the cards Face Down next to you.

Step 3: Flip over 1 card at a time and complete the exercise.

  • For every Black Card you will do Push-Ups.
  • For every Red Card you complete Sit-Ups.
  • The number you do is whatever is on the card!
  • Face Cards equal 10 reps.
  • Aces equal 15 reps.

The beauty is you never know what card will be next! Will it be more push-ups? How Many??? This is what makes it fun:). Always remember: 1 card at a time.

Being in quarantine isn’t optimal, however; it allows us to spend more time outside!  That’s a HUGE WIN!  If you’re up early and outside: the peace and sounds as nature wakes up are incredibly rejuvenating!  SO:  special SHOUT OUT to Nature and a special INVITE TO YOU:  Enjoy an early morning coffee/beverage outside…and listen…and taste…and breathe.  CHEERS!

Strength…the physical part…is somewhat easy to achieve.  We can workout together or solo, we can do squats and push-ups ect…  

Winning…it’s all relative…what are you competing against?  In each contest we get to pick our adversary: are we competing against the entire field? our age group? a friend or family member? time?  How we frame winning changes our perspective.  

NOT SURRENDERING…this is both universally hard and universally unique!  What we each encounter that can crush our spirits.  It could be a physical challenge like a marathon or ultra, OR it could be something like the current situation… 

In the age of “Social Distancing” we are all experiencing some severe changes and consequences.  Businesses are closing, jobs are being lost, kids are being home schooled…to say there are hardships would be an understatement!  

Right Here.
Right Now.


Here is the time to Not Surrender!  
Here is the time to Show Your Strength!

Today at our Traditional Speed Workout we practiced the art of the Negative Split. We built off the Form & Fundamentals workout from Mondays workout. Learning pace management and using muscle engagement helped every athlete achieve their negative split!

Learn…Practice…Workout

Today at our Form & Fundamentals Track Practice we looked at torso engagement as it relates to pace change. We focused on Breathing and Arms. The workout consisted of some abdominal work, push ups, wall squats and running. At Leapfrog we look into “How” we run…the way we use all parts of our body for faster, more efficient running.

Live from The Track 2/19/2020

PREPARE YOURSELF

Wednesday workouts are normally Traditional Speed Work…today we planned for 400 meter repeats…but sometimes situations change and the need to modify swiftly appears! The track at The Community School of Naples is currently being re-surfaced (Really Great News!! Gonna be an AMAZING TRACK soon!) so we had to make a quick change to our planned workout. At Leapfrog we often talk about being able to Modify.

Next Up: Our Friday Hill Series continues with focus on maintaining pace at the bottom of the hill.
