This Weeks HUGE SHOUT OUT:
Mason B.!!!
Mason EARNED this weeks SHOUT OUT with his Dedication and Commitment this week @Leapfrog.
Mason had an early morning commitment on Wednesday and knew he couldn’t complete the 
scheduled workout in time if he started at 6a.m.  SO:  Mason contacted me and he arranged to 
begin his workout EARLY:  at 5:30a.m.!!!  
That’s Dedication!!
Mason also has chosen to sign up for his FIRST 1/2 MARATHON and to be consistent 
he came to Friday’s “On The Course” Workout and put forth a Super Solid Effort!!!

Well Done Mason!

Looking forward to your continued Dedication and Progress!!

Each week Leapfrog hosts a Monday Track Practice that focuses ENTIRELY on RUN FORM. 

Wednesday We Work on SPEED.

Friday’s this month are all about THE NAPLES NEWS 1/2 MARATHON.  

At Leapfrog we believe in increased efficiency and RUNNING STRONG.  Our goal is to coach runners not just to faster times and further distances, but also to build strong overall athletes with an emphasis on Form & Fundamentals. 

We look to keep you moving Further, Faster and Injury Free for a long and enjoyable running/fitness lifestyle.

Traditional Thanksgiving
“Gobble Gobble” Run w/Mimosas!!

Join Leapfrog and Friends as we continue the Thanksgiving “Gobble Gobble” Tradition of a morning Run followed by Mimosas!
Join us as we meet at Venitian Village in the north side parking lot by 7:30a.m. Thanksgiving morning for a CASUAL Fun Run/Walk in the tradition of the Gobble Gobble event. PLEASE PARK EVERY OTHER SPACE TO ENSURE A SAFE/SOCIALLY DISTANCED SPACE.
The “Official” Run/Walk will leave Venitian Village parking lot at 7:30a.m and head to the north end of Gulf Shore Blvd. and back. Distance is approx. 1.5 miles. YES! You may go further if you’d like, it’s your day to enjoy:)
We will be running spaced out and going against traffic as the streets will be open. We expect kindness and courtesy from all participating…THIS IS NOT A RACE:)
Per our Tradition we will partaking in Celebratory Mimosa’s post run in the parking lot. Please BYOB.
We hope you’ll join us and even invite friends as we carry on a Holiday Tradition here in beautiful Naples, Florida.
NOTE: This event is meant to be a PRIVATE SOCIAL GATHERING…this is not a public event. You may feel free to share with specific friends you’d like to invite but PLEASE DON’T SHARE PUBLICALLY. We need to keep this an “intimate” event amongst friends:)

LASTLY: in the tradition of Thanksgiving we will be taking a collection of canned/dry goods for St. Matthews House. So if you’d like, please consider bringing a donation for those less fortunate:)

Power Running: Running on Fatigued Legs

Join Leapfrog Friday Mornings at 6a.m. for our Power Running Series:  Running on Fatigued Legs.

The workout meets at Venetian Village in the north side parking lot.

“Anyone can do it fresh.”

 

What to expect:

A workout geared towards fatiguing the leg muscles so we can practice Strong Run Form when Tired.

A workout incorporating body weight exercises as well as running so you may “Run Strong” even when fatigued.

This Weeks HUGE SHOUT OUT:
Ann Messer & Jim Austin
AND
Chris Smith/Angie Blankenship

We have A LOT of Shout Outs this week!!! 
1st:  Ann Messer and Jim Austin!  Ann & Jim displayed the value of training in a group during their performance on the Wednesday Floating 400’s Speed Workout!  I could see them both working hard and pushing one another…REPEAT AFTER REPEAT!!  Through the Efforts of Each of Them THEY BOTH Maintained a STRONG PACE & GREAT WORKOUT!!  I love watching the push when neither runner backs down!!!  Both stayed strong…Both Worked Hard…AND BOTH GOT STRONGER!!  CHEERS!

2nd:  Chris Smith and Angie Blankenship:  WOW What a Mile They Both Ran on Wednesday’s Timed Mile!!  Angie had her PERSONAL BEST Mile and Chris…Well lets just say he finished Really Strong!!  Angie led the way through 3 1/2 laps…at her personal best pace…and Chris just drafted…THEN in the final 200 meters Chris took off!!!  What a Finish!  Great Teamwork and Great Efforts from both Chris and Angie!!!  CHEERS!!

***Special Note to Ali Gardino:  Ali ran a 5:55 Mile at Wednesdays Track Practice!!!  Gotta Love Sub-6 Minute Mile Pace!!

Ahh…Running and discomfort, some would say it’s the downside of running.  Who wants to be uncomfortable??? 

It’s one of the hardest things we coach at Leapfrog: Finding Comfort while Uncomfortable.  During speed workouts I like to call it:  “Learning to Dance with the Red Line!”  I love it!!  I love being on the brink of discovering something new!  That’s what happens when you push yourself through an uncomfortable stage: You Discover Something New!  

This July at Leapfrog we are working again on Pace Change.  Starting tomorrow with the Signature Workout through the Whistle Drill on Wednesday and finally on Fridays Indian Run Workout we will be moving through Challenging Workouts with the goal of discovering something new:  A New Pace!  

Will it be challenging?  YES!
Will it be uncomfortable?  YES!
Will it make us stronger?  YES!!!
Will you discover something new?  YES!!!

Don’t be afraid to come cleanse yourself in hard work and sweat:)
Don’t be afraid to invite a friend:)

Live from The Track: The Timed Mile! 7/1/2020

PREPARE YOURSELF

Today was the day to check progress and set your baseline. It was THE TIMED MILE Track Workout.

For those who have been consistent with practice I’m happy to report that we all saw progress!! It’s nice to see RESULTS!!

To those who have gotten started over the past few months, we set their baseline mile (AND I’m happy to report that we set a couple PERSONAL BEST MILE TIMES!!)

It was a good tough workout! The morning was hot and the efforts were strong! We will do it again in 6 weeks…SO: Get started and be consistent! Results Will Come!

Three Practices Each Week: Mon/Wed/Fri 6-7a.m.

Monday Form & Fundamentals

Wednesday Traditional Speed Work
